Yeah, if you're not into DDO, you'll probably want to skip this one. Or at least skip to the end. I tried an lj-cut but it's being fussy with me and refusing to do its job.

To bring you up to speed, the people running the DDO store have decided to improve their security measures so much that if you try to purchase something from the DDO store (they sell stuff there that you can use in-game if you absolutely need it), it will not let you purchase it and tells you it's a fraudulent attempt to purchase.  The support guys, whom are wildly difficult to even find, say that this is because your ISP may have a location that is too far removed from where you live (and therefore you need to contact your ISP) AND that your credit card info needs to be re-entered (even if it hasn't changed from what was there before) AND that you must contact your credit card issuer to tell them that it's okay for you to buy stuff from the DDO store with your credit card).  None of this was an issue before.

After hours of digging and no luck, I finally searched the DDO forums (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=306367 , if you're interested in seeing the whole discussion) and found I'm not the only one with this problem.  Below is my post to the support people:

I'm having the same problem as those above me, however after hours of digging around trying to get help with this issue, I have come to the conclusion that not only is your DDO store severely mucked up, but your support pages are a nightmarish mess! While there are some functioning pages (that took a lot of digging and sheer luck to get to) your own site directs you to outdated and defunct pages where no help is available. Someone really needs to get on the ball and redirect these old and broken links to wherever it is that your current support page resides.

Here's what I did:

Try as I might I can't get help for the DDO store. I've tried going to http://myaccount.turbine.com and clicking on the link provided there:

" For more information and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), please visit the Turbine Solution Center at http://www.turbine.com/support "

Then going to the above link and clicking for the DDO support (http://www.ddo.com/support, which then auto-resolves it to http://www.ddo.com/ddosupport, which in turn brings up a link to a page which isn't there and a 404 error.) As you can see, it's not very helpful.

All this because the DDO store is having some sort of difficulty with me purchasing extra DDO points on my credit card, which is the same card I use for my automatic monthly payments for the game and have never had any problems with. Yet, the DDO store says this same card is on file and when I go to purchase it says there is an error. Ok, so I click "Enter Different Card", it thinks for a moment then acts as if I've tried to hit purchase again, never asking me to input any other type of card info. What is wrong here? I'm about to tear my hair out.

Hitting the help button while in the DDO store just brings up a white screen that says "Your organization has been disabled". What organization? My credit union?? Why is the store having difficutly with it when my monthly subsription on the same card works fine, and the card works flawlessly everywhere else I buy things too ...?

Two hours after digging around and hitting various dead ends I find the "Game Support" link in the top bar of the forum (why, oh why don't all your defunct links just bring you there??). Assuming this is just going to lead me around the same wild goose chase, out of sheer desperation, I click it. Wow! Not a defunct page! Ok... Online Support .. Knowledge Base... Dungeons & Dragons Online...more -> DDO Store.. more -> "#10. There was an error processing your request. Please try again. Errors CHK-8001 CHK-8002 CHK-8003." ->

Me: Yay! Clicky clicky... follow instructions... try store again AND (drumroll....) SAME PROBLEM. *thwack forehead on desk repeatedly*

Seriously folks, really??

ETA: Guys I appreciate your attempts above to tell us how we can solve this, but this problem is *server side*, your end is doing this, not ours. If your protections are so tight that it won't allow you to purchase anything without calling your credit card company, re-entering all your info *and* negotiating with your ISP, then you really don't want people purchasing stuff, do you? (Sorry, I'm a bit exasperated, but it's a valid point.)

Other than that, I had to take our youngest one into the hospital this evening as she was running a temp of nearly 103 degrees F.  It's been 2 weeks now that most of the family has been ill, starting with the youngest one having Strep; the eldest (who's undergoing chemo) having metapneumovirus and Influenza B (despite the vaccine -- kinda need white blood cells for that to work and chemo nukes those.)  I think we lucky parents managed to get at least 2 of the 3 (I'm hoping our flu vaccines worked!)  I've been completely zonked, sleeping about 3/4ths of the day, headachy, throat on fire, and fighting the fact that the stomach, intestines, etc, seem to want to go on vacation to the outside world and are seeking to leave thru the most gravitationally-convenient exit.  (Yeah, yeah, TMI, sorry.  But you know me, if you read the blog, you just gotta take your chances with that stuff on occasion :P )
